A graduate of Syracuse University’s School of Visual Communication, he built his foundation at top NYC ad agencies working with global brands like Volvo, Nikon, and Hertz. With over 25 years in television and film, Alan has produced and directed commercials, music videos, documentaries, and broadcast programming. Artist Cartel Music Group is an independent music and visual arts collective rooted in underground culture and driven by artist development, storytelling, and innovation. Founded in North Carolina with strong New York City influence, the brand was created to support independent artists while building platforms that amplify real voices and creative vision.
Co-founded by Ron Montgomery and Brenda Baker, Artist Cartel Music Group grew from years of hands-on experience in artist development, community media, and independent music production. Ron Montgomery is also the founder of Southern NYC, established in 2014, a respected North Carolina-based label known for mentoring and showcasing local talent. Southern NYC has played a key role in cultivating emerging artists through live showcases, community engagement, and performance opportunities.
Brenda Baker is also the co-founder of Middle Child ENT, a media and entertainment platform dedicated to storytelling, artist visibility, and community conversation. Through Middle Child ENT, Brenda has produced interviews and artist showcases featured on platforms such as BronxNet, BRIC Brooklyn Free Speech TV, Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN), and other local access networks, creating space for artists, creatives, and community voices to be seen and heard.
